First steps with Dilato



Dilato is an application made for doctors.
It will help you type your clinical notes faster in your own medical record software.
Dilato includes built-in templates that are ready to use or you can customize/create templates as needed.


How to insert a template in your EMR:

Download and Sign in



Download Dilato then open it.

After you created an account, please log in:

Clinical notes templates



First place the cursor on the position in your EMR software where you
would like the template to be inserted (in the SOAP note field).




Then click on the small icon on the lower right of your screen (or press the shortcut: Alt-X keys).



Then click on "My Templates".



The templates list will pop up. Pick a template.



A preview window of the template may or may not appear on the screen depending on whether the template contains fill-in forms.


Fill/check/uncheck the boxes as needed based on your patient evaluation, then push on "Insert".


The template's text will be automatically inserted in your EMR:


(Note: if the template is not copied, place the cursor at the position you wished it to be inserted, then press on ctrl-v to paste the template - the text is stored in the clipboard)






Create your templates


In the "Edit templates" windows, you can create or edit your templates.

Click on + New and type your template's content in the field (or do a copy-paste).

When you are done editing templates, click on Sync.






Checkbox and Listbox



Add a checkbox to a template:

To insert a ❑ checkbox, positionned the cursor in your template then click on "Forms" and choose "insert a checkbox" (or press on alt-k).
Replace "item" with the text you want to include in the checkbox.
Ex: ❑ abdominal pain
To indicate the end of that text, you can type 2 spaces or change line.
To have an item pre-selected, add a +. Ex: ❑+ fever
To have an item pre-selected with the ø sign, add a -. Ex: ❑- shortness of breath




Add a listbox to a template:

To insert a ▼ listbox, positionned the cursor in your template then click on "Formulaire" and choose "insert a listbox" (or press on alt-l).
Replace "item1_item2_..." with the items you want to include in the list, separating them with a _ .
Ex: ▼ Bactrim DS 1 co po bid x 3 days_Cipro 250mg po bid x 3 days_Cipro 500mg po bid x 7 days
To indicate the end of the list, you can type 2 spaces or change line.
To have an item pre-selected in the list, add two _ after this item. Ex: ▼ 1 day_2 days__3 days_4 days will pre-select "2 days".






Sort your templates


Press on Group + to add a new group of templates.

Select the group in which you wish to place the template.

Keyboard abbreviations


Set an Abbreviation easy to remember, then press on Sync.

In your medical note, type the abbreviation followed by SPACE.
The template is automatically inserted in your medical note, without using the templates menu.


For the Group templates, the prefixe is an APOSTROPHE. Ex: 'diab
For the Shared templates, the prefixe is two COMMAS. Ex: ,,diab






Sharing templates & Wikilato


In Edit templates, click on "Share".

You can share your templates with your Group (using the network in your clinic)
or share them on Wikilato (with all Dilato users, even outside your clinic).


To use your colleagues' shared templates,
press on alt-c then click on Shared templates.


To use templates in Wikilato,
press on alt-z then click on Wikilato.





Review of systems, Exam, Plan & My items


From the menu, you can explore these 4 built-in windows.

Check the items you wish to insert in your note.
Once you are finished selecting, click on "OK" to insert the items.






Autocomplete box

While typing, the autocomplete box is shown and suggests medical terms.
Double-click an item to insert it in your medical note.
